Shareholders came close to selling ground
In 2001, Bath City's shareholders rejected plans to sell Twerton Park to clear the club's huge debts.
The sale was backed by 65 per cent of shareholders, short of the 75 per cent needed at the time.
Two developers had expressed an interest in buying the club's 80-year old stadium, with one – Twerton Park Properties – offering to obtain planning permission for City to build a 6,000 capacity stadium on the Stothert & Pitt sports ground at Newton St Loe.
City would then have had £3 million to £4 million to spend on a new home.
