Say cheese!
Cheese officianados Paxton and Whitfield will be sharing their expertise at an informal but informative cheese tasting next week.
Spring is an exciting time in the cheese world. Fresh young styles of goats' and sheep's cheeses that we have been denied for months are starting to emerge. A visit to the store on John Street reveals delights such as Windrush Curd Cheese, little pats of days-old goats' curd from a single farm in Gloucestershire and Lou Sotch du Cagette, an innocent-looking, tiny sheep's cheese from France which packs a surprising punch. The evening will offer the chance to taste some of these artisan offerings as well as some more well known varieties.
The tasting takes place at Wild Cafe on Queen Street at 7pm on Thursday (March 28). Tickets cost £12.50 and do not include drinks, but you can take your own. Tickets are limited and booking is advised.
