Saltford Golf Club's Laurie Canter qualifies for European Tour event
Laurie Canter will compete on the European Tour this week after a spectacular performance at the qualifying event for the Tshwane Open.
Saltford Golf Club's Canter booked his place at the event, which gets under way tomorrow, with an impressive 11-under-par total of 61 at Irene Country Club, giving him the first of the ten qualifying spots on offer on Monday.

The competition is co-sanctioned with the South Africa-based Sunshine Tour, which the 23-year-old joined after coming through Qualifying School in January.
I'm excited about getting through, but I really surprised myself by putting together a score that was so low," he said.

"My goal after Q-School was to make it into at least one of the events co-sanctioned with the European Tour. I'm really excited about the chance to test myself against one of the best fields in world golf.
"To shoot that low and to score so often really gives you a sense of ease. I feel like I can go out onto any track and score well, because the game is there when I need it."
Canter will tee off alongside Sweden's Oscar Floren and South Africa's Titch Moore at 6.30am GMT tomorrow but there is no place at the Tshwane Open for Cumberwell Park's Steve Surry, whose level-par round was five shots off the qualifying places.
Former Kingswood School pupil Chris Lloyd starts his first round at 6am, having made just one cut in four tournaments since winning his European Tour card in November.
In last week's Dimension Data Pro-Am on the Sunshine Tour, Canter finished tied 42nd, Lloyd was last of the players to make the cut in 71st and Surry missed out on making the final round by a single shot.
