Red Nose Day round-up: Sainsbury's boss Justin King in Comic Relief action at Bradford on Avon
The boss of Sainsbury’s led his firm’s Comic Relief efforts from the front today.
University of Bath graduate Justin King was at the Bradford on Avon store this morning, rowing to raise money for the good cause.
Richard Clarke, who organised the activities, said “It was a busy day, by 12 o clock we had rowed 57 km.”
Their goal was 110 km, the equivalent of the Zambezi River, which was reached with the help of Olympic pentathletes Heather Fell and Kate Allenby.

At Batheaston Primary School, more than £100 was raised by budding triathletes, Annie Wayman and Chloe Waugh, both 10, and Harriet Argent, 11.
The girls were sponsored to cycle three miles, run half a mile and swim 250 metres.
Staff at Not Just Pets came to work dressed as their pets and took turns running a treadmill like human hamsters.
Janine Tozer, owner of the store on St James's Parade, said “Customers sponsored us to eat dog treats and there was also a Design a Dog Bowl competition for children.”
In the SouthGate centre, a team from The Bath Chronicle sold goody bags and had a dressing up box for willing members of the public to don feather boas and novelty specs.
More than £60 was raised at Bridgemead Residential and Nursing home, by staff, residents and day care patients who paid to dress in red.
Girls from 1st Timsbury Guides got creative for their contribution, making giant fabric triangles to support a Blue Peter world record attempt for the largest bunting line.
At Natural Spa Factory in Combe Down, charity efforts will be extended throughout March, with all profits from sales of its indulgent Chocolate and Mocha Scrub going to Comic Relief.
Marketing executive Jade Hughes said “We’re hoping to raise as much money as possible.”
Other organisations getting involved today included Coopers in Walcot Street, RV Care, La Tasca, bus firm First, social landlord Curo, Oldfield School, Moorlands School, and Cafe Rouge.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Charlie Darlington had to postpone the charity auction she had planned at Bath Rugby Club, which will now take place on April 27.
A year’s supply of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a high-speed ride in a Ferrari are among the lots to be sold.
Bath-born celebrity chef Martin Blunos was taking to Twitter to reveal the secrets behind his latest recipe. The “Nickie-Bockie-Glory” is a twist on the traditional ice cream, layered with sauce made using Buckfast Tonic Wine. Comic Relief will receive a donation for every re-tweet the recipe gets.
