CYCLING Bath Cycling Club took a clutch of prizes when Frome & District Wheelers hosted the opening 10-mile time trial of the 2010 season.

Tom Ryan was the first veteran home in a time of 25:21mins, with club colleague Pete Wilson second in 28:22.

Bath's Gillian Pears won the ladies' competition in 29:13 and Leon Boulton clocked 23:50 on the course, which took cyclists from north Maiden Bradley to the south via a long circuit of the Frome bypass.

In the two-up team time trial, Bath's Rob Pears – despite a chest infection – managed a good time of 21:54 with Boulton to finish just two seconds behind third-placed Aran Stanton and Simon Berogna (VC St Raphael).

Stanton won the solo event in 21:43 while Peter Giorgi and Rob Lyne (Giant Cycling Club) powered their way to victory in the two-up race in 21:35.
