Hot rockers Young Guns return to Bath's Moles on February 15 as part of their first headline tour of 2012 and their first in support of forthcoming second album, Bones.

The band, featuring John Taylor (guitar), Fraser Taylor (guitar), Simon Mitchell (bass), Ben Jolliffe (drums) and Gustav Wood (vocals), have fond recollections of the last time they played the venue back in September 2010.

The Guide's Dan Biggane spoke to Ben from the band to get the lowdown.

The Guide: Good to see you guys back on the road and returning to Bath. What are your recollections of the last time you hit the city?

Ben: Bath is an amazing city, we haven't had many chances to come to Bath so we love it when we can come.

We've played Moles before and it was such a fun show, we got to go out afterwards and paint the town red.

It's definitely one of the main shows we're looking forward to coming back to.

Why have you decided to return to the city now that the band's profile is considerably bigger?

The idea of this tour was to do small sweaty, rowdy shows.

As we loved Bath so much before we decided to come back.

We picked a bunch of small venues we love from around the country and Moles was one of them.

The small rammed shows tend to have the best atmosphere, so we jumped at the chance.

Do you enjoy the touring process what can people expect in Bath?

We love touring, it's what we live for.

The reason we decided to play a tour of small venues is because we love the energy they bring.

We love getting the crowd involved as much as we can at our shows which is sometimes hard to do in big venues.

We love getting stage invasions, crowd surfing the lot.

We hope to see you all in Bath at Moles. It's such a great venue and we'll try and chat to every single one of you!

What has the band been up to since the last headline UK tour?

We've been playing some shows abroad. Australia, China, Thailand, Europe, and been getting the album ready to release.

It's great getting to play shows in other countries but there's no doubt that the UK has the best vibe and energy.

Your new album Bones is about to be released. Are you happy with how it turned out?

We were lucky enough to record it in Thailand.

Our producer Dan Weller did an amazing job and we are so happy and excited about the album.

It's always a scary process releasing an album but the feedback we've had so far has been great which is nice to hear.

But at the end of the day it's all about what the fans think, so fingers crossed. We're feeling super confident about it.

What new tracks are you most looking forward to playing live?

A song called Dearly Departed, which we'll be playing on this tour. It has such a great energy to it, pure jump along song.

Also our latest single Bones will be fun playing live.

We're also playing some very old songs on this tour which could be the last time a lot of people here some of them live.

Congratulations on the success of your debut album All Our Kings Are Dead. What are your memories of that time when the album took off?

Thank you. From what I remember it was a fairly scary period.

We didn't have long to write and record the album so I think we were quite nervous about it all.

The feedback/reviews etc were great and exceeded our expectations.

And to get a couple of front covers of great magazines was an incredible feeling.

Does Bones differ to Our Kings Are Dead?

It does, but I think in the sense that we are better songwriters now.

As much as we love and adore AOKAD, it was very much a 'first album'.

I think we still sounded like we hadn't quite found our sound yet. I think the direction of Bones is a lot more direct.

We just wanted to write a bunch of big exciting rock songs.

What bands have influenced your style and approach to music?

There are many bands we listen to and have had great inspiration from, but we try to write our songs with an open mind, we try not to follow in anyone's footpaths or you'd find yourself sounding too much like them.

We are big fans of the Foo Fighters and Thrice.

How would you describe your music?

Tough question, we like to say just 'rock' with melodies.

It's a hard one. People put us in all different kinds of brackets but at the end of the day we just try to write rock songs with big choruses.

I first saw you many moons ago guys when you toured with Outcry Collective and Save Your Breath. What have been the highlights since then?

Wow that was a while ago!

There's been so many amazing experiences we've had over the last couple of years.

I think playing the main stage at Reading Festival has to win it.

What advice would you give to an aspiring guitar-based rock band in 2012?

Gig, gig and gig! We've played millions of shows and the best thing to do is get as many shows as you can.

That way not only with you gradually build a fan base, and a solid one, you'll become better musicans, be more confident on stage and become a tight band.

It takes time but doing it the hard way is definitely the way to go.

Or just go on XFactor, take drugs and get on the front page of newspapers ... Don't really!

What plans have the band got following this tour?

More touring. We want to go to as many places as we can and play every city and country possible.

We will be doing festivals which we'll hopefully announce soon.

I just want to continue doing what I've been doing for as long as I can.

It's not about money it's about the experiences and enjoying every part of it.
