Review: Beauty and the Beast
Bath Light Operatic Group has yet again succeeded in bringing the magic of Beauty and Beast to the stage and this year’s colourful and enchanting portrayal of the renowned fairy tale really brings the magic alive.
Despite being an amateur company the slick choreography and charming music brings it into the same league as any professional production
The timeless tale tells the story of a beautiful young girl seeing past the grotesque exterior of the beast and ultimately learning to love him.
The beast has been transformed by a spell, which can be broken if someone grows to love him for himself and not for the way he looks.
The Bath Light Operatic Group’s stage version transforms Disney’s animation into an unforgettable experience for all ages and moments of hilarity for everyone.
All the characters are larger than life, as one would expect from a show based on a Disney cartoon, with costumes to match those seen in the original film.
As Belle Anna Penwarden certainly looks the part and her voice is just as beautiful as some of her dresses.
Her co-star Mark Baker, who takes on the role of Beast, also gives an impressive performance, striking the balance between a cold hearted but ultimately loveable prince.
As well as being beautifully performed, no expense has been spared on set and costumes, adding to the magic of the whole production.
The production runs at the Theatre Royal until Sunday.

“Absolutely fantastic. I have been to many professional productions this year and this is right up there with them. An excellent production on all counts. BLOGs have once again excelled themselves, not a weak link in site. The review is spot on.
