Resilent Walcot defy sin-bins to down Dorchester
A brilliant recovery from 17-3 down ended with Walcot RFC recording a crucial 22-17 victory at Dorchester to put ground between themselves and the bottom clubs in Southern Counties South.
The visitors made a bright start, which was rewarded by a Wilby penalty, but fourth-placed Dorchester then came to life and pinned Walcot back.
Constant infringements inside the 22 led to two yellow cards being issued but, despite being reduced to 13 men, Walcot defended heroically to take a 3-0 lead into half-time.
Dorchester quickly made the extra men count after the break, though, and three tries in 20 minutes left Walcot in total disarray.

However, the return of players from the sin bin refocused their efforts and a dropped pass allowed centre Van Roy to chip through and score out wide.
A third yellow card only made them more determined and some brilliant support play saw flanker Gillard finish off a team try to make it 17-15 with nine minutes to go.
And, from the restart, a simple catch and offload from number eight Meade stretched the home defence, allowing an inside pass to send captain Mitchell over.
Wilby’s conversion completed a stunning turnaround for Walcot, who host Trowbridge in a rearranged game on Saturday. The 2nds are also at home to Old Redcliffians 3rd.
