It has recently been reported by Consumer Focus that consumers who leave placing orders for their heating oil to the last minute risk paying a much higher price and receiving longer delivery times.

Fuel poverty is now a major concern within the non-mains gas supplied areas of Britain. It has been reported that some 1 million households have to spend more than 10% of their income on home energy bills. The reason for this is that we have seen large rises in the cost of home heating oil in the last few years coupled with harsh winters. Household budgets can be devastated just at the time of year that we need a little extra spare cash.

Consumer Focus have said: “With this in mind, our message is buy oil as early as possible, and get a better deal by bulk buying with neighbours if possible. Consumers should also look to cut bills by making their home as energy-efficient as they can and ensure they are claiming all of the benefits and grants they may be entitled to.”

One scheme that was set up by the Government to help some of the most at risk fuel poverty households is the Warm Front scheme. This scheme aims to help households with their boilers and energy efficiency which in turn will help them reduce their home heating oil bills.

The Warm Front scheme is available for both mains gas & non-mains households. The funding can be worth up to as much as £6000 for homes that need an oil central heating system. If you would like some more information about this scheme you can contact the Warm Front scheme on 0800 316 2805.
