Two pilots from Bath have fulfilled a childhood dream by being selected to fly for the Red Arrows.

Flt Lt Steve Morris, 31, and Flt Lt Oliver Parr, 36, have been announced as two of three new recruits for the world famous RAF aerobatics display team's 2013 line-up.

They will begin training in mid-October at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire. Flt Lt Morris will fly Red 5 and Flt Lt Parr Red 2.

The Red Arrows will return to a nine-plane formation after flying with seven for much of this year, following the deaths of Flt Lt Jon Egging and Flt Lt Sean Cunningham in separate accidents in 2011.

The other new pilot is Flt Lt Mark Lawson, 34, from Hertfordshire, and there is also a new team manager, Sqn Ldr Ruth Shackleton.

All three new pilots have completed at least one fast-jet frontline tour of duty and each has more than 1,500 flying hours.

The Red Arrows were formed in 1965 and have flown more than 4,300 displays in 55 countries, including at the Olympic Games opening ceremony and, most recently, last Monday at the London 2012: Our Greatest Team Parade over The Mall and Buckingham Palace.
