Drinkers of real ale have been raising a glass to the release of the 2013 Good Beer Guide.

Compiled by the Campaign for Real Ale, the guide lists all the best cask ale outlets in the country.

The guide, which is out today, includes 11 pubs from Bath: The Bell, the Garrick's Head, the Hop Pole, the King William, the Old Green Tree, the Pig and Fiddle, the Raven, the Royal Oak at Twerton, the Salamander, the Star Inn and the White Horse.

The Star, at the Paragon, is run by Bath brewery Abbey Ales under landlord Paul Waters, pictured. The pub dates back to 1760 and is also listed in the National Inventory of Heritage Inns.

Alan Morgan, Abbey Ales managing director, said: "I am extremely proud that Paul has again managed to get the Star into the guide – he thoroughly deserves it."

As well as pubs, the new guide also includes a list of all real ale breweries in the country.

This year's guide has profiles of Abbey Ales, which after 15 years now supplies more than 80 outlets in and around Bath, and Dawkins Ales from Timsbury.
