A protest will be held outside Bath Abbey on Saturday to show solidarity with people in Gaza.

The event, organised by supporters of Palestine, takes place at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, about 50 young people will also be meeting at the abbey at noon ahead of a march through the city to raise awareness of human trafficking.

The group will themselves be chained up as they march.

Heritage and nature lovers are being encouraged to attend an open day on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Bath on Tuesday, where the Canal and River Trust will encourage more people to support its efforts to reinvigorate the city's towpaths.

It has begun work to improve the towpath from Widcombe bottom lock to Darlington Wharf, with bulbs and shrubs planted to ensure a year-round food supply is available to local wildlife, giving a boost to bees, butterflies and bats.

Tours to showcase the work to date will be led by volunteers. There will also be a guided tour of the city's new history trail.

The open day starts at 10am at Lock 11 on the Bath Flight, off Pulteney Gardens, with tours throughout the day.
