Professional opera for just £15 a ticket
If you have looked at the price of opera tickets and thought you might need a second mortgage, try looking again.
A new venture which comes to Freshford next month is offering operalovers the chance to see young opera professionals – possibly the opera stars of the future – performing Donizetti's L'Elisir d'amore for just £15 a pop. And that includes the chance to have a picnic beforehand and to meet the up and coming opera stars afterwards.
Limpley Stoke Performing Arts have arranged for Pop-Up Opera to give an exciting one-off performance of the company's latest production at Freshford Village Memorial Hall on Sunday, May 13.
The audience is invited to take a pre-performance picnic, weather permitting, and the bar opens from 2pm onwards.

Pop-Up Opera is an innovative, young opera company bringing opera to bars, barns, boats and all sorts of unusual and rural venues.
Their hugely successful first production, Don Pasquale, toured venues including a cider barn, a garlic farm, a moored houseboat made from scrap, a restored Victorian workhouse, and a traditional English pub.
Their current production of L'elisir d'amore is proving to be even more popular with audiences.
The company was founded by Clementine Lovell, the niece of long time Limpley Stoke resident, Peter Spence. Peter and his friends were so impressed when they saw the young company's production that they organised this one off performance.
Audiences ranging from apprehensive, first time opera goers through to seasoned opera buffs, are all equally enthusiastic about what they experience.
One of the UK's foremost publications, Opera magazine said: "A performance of Don Pasquale that fulfilled its aim of making opera enjoyable and inviting, without diminishing the quality of the music."
Tickets are now on sale from either Bath Box Office on 01225 463362 email: firstname.lastname@example.org or from The Galleries Shop, Freshford on 01225 723249.
