Police seek 'angry' man who grabbed teenager
Police are hunting for an angry-looking man who tried to pull a teenage girl into his car in Bath.
The man, in his 50s, struck in Twerton High Street on Saturday night, grabbing the wrist of the 17-year-old girl. The incident happened at 10.30pm close to the William Hill betting shop.
The man ordered the girl to get into the white car, which she thinks could have been a Renault Clio, but she managed to break free and he drove off.
Police say they do not know what his exact motive was and are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident or who recognises a description of the driver.
Acting Detective Inspector Neil Meade, from Bath police, appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: "Fortunately incidents like this happen rarely.
"The police are treating this incident seriously and are trying to establish the motive for the assault.
"We are keen to speak to members of the public who may have information that can assist the investigation."
DI Meade said detectives were now examining CCTV images from the area and had interviewed the victim further.
He said the girl had described the car as "clapped-out" and with a noisy, old engine.
The victim has given police an unusually detailed description of the man.
He is described as white, in his 50s, and balding with greying hair.
He had a big nose, droopy eyes, tight lips and the teenager said he had "an angry face".
He was more than 6ft tall and was wearing a leather jacket.
His car is said to be white, "older-style" and small – possibly a Renault Clio or a Peugeot.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bath CID on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
