Police issue roads warning after heavy rain causes flooding
Police today warned motorists to take extra care on the west’s roads as heavy rainfall turned some into lakes.
There were large pools of water in Julian Road and London Road in Bath this morning, with some country routes also flooded.

Late this morning, the A368 was shut between the Chelwood roundabout at the petrol station at Marksbury, but it has since reopened.
Other roads closed in the area included Sleep Lane, Whitchurch (between Staunton Lane and Woollard Lane),as well as the B3130 and Tunbridge Road at Chew Magna.

Keynsham library - which is currently in temporary accommodation - was also forced to close today after a roof leak.
A police spokesman said: “We are warning motorists to take particular care as they travel today following heavy rainfall in the area.
There have been reports of spray and surface water across Avon and Somerset. Please allow extra time for your journey and consider if you really need to travel this morning. If you do, motorists are reminded to avoid going through deep water – a small number of motorists have already become stranded in their vehicles.”
Bath and North East Somerset Council said other roads were passable with care and its staff were out in force this morning.
The council also said it is working with the landlord of the building to enable the library to reopen as soon as possible.

The Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the River Chew at Keynsham.
