Plenty of positives to take from Avonvale display
Avonvale RFC under-12s may have suffered a second successive 4-3 defeat to Frampton Cotterell but there were plenty of positives to take from Sunday’s game.
Four quick tries had undone Vale in the previous meeting and they conceded early again this time around but battled well to ensure they were always in contention.
Finleigh – who briefly made it 1-1 – made hard yards throughout, while Harry, Matthew and Oscar – who had a try disallowed – also produced several good runs.
Zak’s trademark runs from deep also galvanised the team and tackles were made at vital times, including a neat heel tap from Harvey, but Vale’s forwards were guilty of getting to the breakdown and ruck too late.

* A depleted Avonvale under-13s team slipped back into bad old ways as they were beaten 56-12 by Walcot.
The die was cast from the opening seconds as Walcot’s powerful centre collected the kick-off and carried it unopposed across the Vale line.
The hosts were four tries to one down by half-time and there was no respite in the second period for Vale, who – despite some spirited tackling – generally stood off and allowed Walcot to run in six more tries.
* Avonvale under-10s lost 5-0 to a physically strong and well-drilled Frampton Cotterell side in their first match on Sunday.
However, they improved significantly for the second game, competing for every ball and defending brilliantly to restrict the visitors to just one first-half try.
Thomas collected a loose ball to race over for the equalising try and Harry almost won it for Vale with the last play of the game, only to be foiled by an excellent try-saving tackle.
