People rescued after staircase collapse in Bath
Fire crews had to rescue people from a building in Bath after the stairs collapsed yesterday.
The four-storey building at Albion Place in Upper Bristol Road is divided into flats, and the stairs collapsed between the first and second floors.

Crews were called at 3.50pm, and had to rescue four people and a dog using a turntable ladder.
One woman was treated at the scene by a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, but did not need hospital treatment.

The road was closed for about an hour while the rescue took place.
The building was then handed over to a surveyor from Bath and North East Somerset Council, to ensure work was done to make it safe.

Clever dog ... but it would perhaps have been better if the fireman had been using the ladder to rescue both the people and the dog.”
