Pears enjoys a fruitful climb
CYCLING Bath Cycling Club staged its annual hill climb last weekend, which took competitors from Hinton Hill out of Wellow towards Hinton Charterhouse.
Entries were down on recent years, despite the reasonable weather conditions, but it was still a close battle, with Rob Pears winning in 2mins 46.2secs.
That was just four seconds quicker than 17-year-old Tom Marshall, who has been doing well in open hill climbs this year.
And 14-year-old Mervyn Daymond also put in a good ride to finish third in 3:38.0.
The event was organised by Bob Bolwell and Andy Curran acted as pusher-off.
