Peace for fan man
After weeks of being kept awake at night by a noisy fan at the SouthGate centre, a Bath man has finally had a decent night's sleep.
Anthony Grimley, pictured, from Widcombe, had endured a series of sleepless nights because of the noise coming from one of the units at The Vaults food quarter at SouthGate on the other side of the river.

Mr Grimley, who works in publishing, took his annoyance on to You Tube, finding the fan involved and posting a 53-second video demonstrating the noise level on the site.
His persistence in getting the noise stopped paid off, as all has been quiet since Saturday.

Mr Grimley, 39, was informed that an attenuator – a device which has the opposite effect to an amplifier – had been fitted to the extractor fan to minimise the noise.
He said: "The noise stopped on Saturday night. I really appreciate a good night's sleep."

“"an attenuator – a device which has the opposite effect to an amplifier"
What lovely use of prose. A bit like defining a hairdryer as a device that has the opposite effect to a shower.”

“The silence was deafening. A shame that an annoyance had to be complained about before action was taken.”
