Page suffers head injury as Old Sulians lose at Chard
Old Sulians suffered a narrow 13-7 defeat at Chard 2nds on a surface resembling a paddy field, which left many people – including one official – questioning its suitability.
The result was disappointing following a recent good run but of more concern was a nasty head injury to influential open-side Page.

Sulians’ problems on Chard’s ploughed field were in the tight, where the bigger home pack dominated much of the scrums, lineouts and general proceedings in that area.
That deprived the visitors of much-needed possession on a number of vital occasions and they found themselves 10-0 down at half-time after conceding a converted try and penalty.

Sulians had the slope advantage for the second half and spent several spells of pressure around the Chard 22, being rewarded with a try from a short-range burst by Backhouse.
Lyons kicked the conversion and Sulians had several opportunities to add to their tally but poor decision making, final passes going to ground and unusual interpretation of the laws by the official allowed Chard to hold out.
Sulians return to Lansdown this weekend when they entertain high-flying Castle Cary in Tribute Somerset 1.
