Opening times should mean what they say

It is infuriating when exhibition-organisers announce certain opening hours but then welsh on these by closing prematurely or interrupting an advertised run.

A spate of these has happened to occur recently in Bath and Bristol. On Sunday I attempted to revisit the Bath Fringe FAB exhibitions in the excellent former Officers' Club and Pigeon Park pet shop premises.

Posters advertised these as opening 10am till 6pm daily, yet the shows were closing several hours early on their final day. Most exhibits were being packed up at 3pm, and attendees were politely or implicitly discouraged from lingering. But at least the doors were unlocked unlike those of the Broad Street shop being occupied by Bath Spa University students' exhibition Nebulous. Nebulous indeed: leaflets and posters proclaimed it would open 11am-5pm daily, yet it was closed and unstaffed.

Also unavailable on the same day was the Museum of Bath at Work's exhibition on the Co-operative movement, as the gallery was occupied by a play rehearsal.
