The new Bath Academy of Media Make Up will be launched at a special event in the city on October 25.

The Hallowe'en themed VIP evening will showcase live exhibits from some of the top media make-up artists in the country.

These artists, who are all tutors at the new academy, include Angela Williams who will be creating a movie character involving some special effects, Paul Painting who will create a period wig involvement with a Hallowe'en lean, Faye Ward who will create 'Freddy Krueger', Emma Rankin who will create a face from the Lion King, Maria Leydon who will be creating ghoulish body art, hair stylist Vincent Silvester will be whipping up a witchy theme and as the main showpiece Darren Longthorne, who worked on Star Wars, will create an autopsy.

The Bath Academy of Media MakeUp has been founded by creative director and London based media make-up artist, Melanie Crump. She has a hand-picked team of the industry's top media make-up artists to tutor a wide range of highly relevant, unique courses, designed specifically to arm students with the skills and expertise they need to succeed in this thrilling and innovative industry.

Originally from Bath herself, Melanie, who now lives in London has worked in the media industry for over a decade, says: "I wanted to provide an opportunity for the increasing number of people serious about studying for a job in media make-up, but not wanting to travel or live away from home.

" I love the City of Bath; it has some of the finest educational facilities in the world. My aim is to get creatives travelling into Bath, not out of it – I wish I'd had the opportunity to study here."

The academy is holding an open day on October 26 from 10am to 3pm for potential students to view the school. Visit www.bathmediamakeup.co.uk or call 01225 436181.
