Oldfield bag bonus point in Sidmouth try feast
OLDFIELD A feast of running rugby saw hosts Sidmouth inflict a 46-27 South West 1 West defeat on Oldfield, who picked up a try bonus point for their efforts.
Sidmouth flew out of the blocks and capitalised on some uncharacteristically lacklustre Oldfield defending to score two early tries.
Fly-half Rob Payne kicked Oldfield's first three points before Sidmouth added another converted try to their tally following a well-worked lineout peel.
It was then Oldfield's turn to enjoy some territory and possession as they built their way into attacking positions.

After a string of penalties, the visitors elected to kick to the corner and mauled their way over the tryline from the resulting lineout, giving number eight Ian Thomas the chance to score his second try in as many weeks.
The momentum was firmly in Oldfield's favour and scrum-half Will Owen intercepted a pass before being caught yards from the line. However, a penalty was awarded and flanker Rhys Redman profited as he bundled over from close range.
Payne again converted and put Oldfield back in the game at 19-15 down.
The hosts made another fast start to the second half and scored a brace of tries within 20 minutes.
Oldfield refused to lie down, though, and full-back Max Gauntlet scored in the corner after a quick tap penalty.
Sidmouth, made sure there would be no comeback with another converted try before Oldfield hooker Jack Beazer finished off a fine move.
Oldfield play host to Paignton Saxons on Saturday.
