Old Sulians score seven tries to avenge North Petherton defeat
A host of former players were treated to a magnificent seven tries as Old Sulians beat North Petherton 2nds 39-26 in Tribute Somerset 1.
Victory avenged a heavy defeat in the away fixture and the margin would have been even greater had Sulians not eased off in the last 15 minutes, allowing the visitors to grab three tries.
They also opened the scoring against the run of play but, with the back row of Bache, Lyons and Walters making constant inroads into the Petherton midfield, Sulians were not to be denied.
Veteran McKay and number eight Bache crashed over the line in quick succession before a powerful close-range burst from Walters, which was converted, put the hosts 17-7 up at half-time.

Sulians excelled in every facet in the opening 20 minutes of the second period and tries came at regular intervals, with Walters scoring the pick of them after an individual piece of brilliance and a determined 40m dash to the line.
Basey then jinked his way over and converted Goddard’s try out wide before Lyons – always in support – put Sulians 39-7 up and allowed them to use the whole bench, including the return of popular number eight Etcheverry.
Sulians will be looking to maintain this level of performance when they travel to Bridgwater & Albion 2nd XV on Saturday.
