Officer hit in brawl
Two people were arrested after a weekend festival in Batheaston ended with a police officer being assaulted during a brawl.
Villagers had spent the day of Sunday, June 4, celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a street party and music festival.
However, at around 11.30pm the atmosphere took a turn for the worst when the police were called to an incident at the White Lion pub in the High Street.
A man had suffered a cut above his eye after being assaulted in the pub car park, so officers took him into a small lounge area to assess his injury and allow paramedics to treat him.

During that time, fighting broke out inside the pub and a number of police officers were threatened and physically assaulted, so used CS spray to protect themselves and the assault victim who was with them.
People then left the pub and continued fighting in the street, so more CS spray was used.
A 23-year-old man from Batheaston was arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
A 47-year-old man, also from the village, was arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting a police officer. He was also later bailed.
