The family-run business is hoping to create a shop local emphasis for the wedding market as well as help the environment by encouraging low-carbon weddings.

The website uses the postcode of the wedding venue to identify local businesses such as catering firms, florists, bands, photographers, and bridal shops that are within a certain mile radius.

John Evans, 31, who is running the site with his mother Jennie Evans, founder of the popular wedding music website hoptiludrop.co.uk, said: "She put it to me about three years ago when I was living in London and working in music distribution and I liked the idea and decided a couple of years ago to come down and work on it. It's been in development since then.

"The purpose of the website is to find a more efficient way for brides-to-be to find what they need locally and there are all sorts of benefits in finding local businesses.

"You put the postcode of your venue in the website and it finds businesses that are within five or ten miles of where your venue is."

At the moment the website focuses on Bath and Bristol postcodes and only features companies in those areas. Mr Evans said there were plans to expand the website to include Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire and eventually the whole of the country.

The website also features organisational functions to help a bride plan her big day, providing templates for a guest list, to-do list, budget and catering requests.
