A revival of JB Priestley's An Inspector Calls is being performed by Core Theatre Productions at the Rondo Theatre, Bath, from Wednesday, February 6 to Saturday, February 9.

The play is one of Priestley's best known works for the stage and is considered to be one of the classics of mid-20th century English theatre. Focusing on the prosperous middle-class Birling family, who live in Brumley, the play is in three acts and takes place over the course of a single night.

As the family sit down to a celebratory family dinner, they are visited by a man calling himself Inspector Goole. The inspector questions the family about the suicide of a young working-class woman, Eva Smith (also known as Daisy Renton) and, as the family is interrogated, each is revealed to have known Eva (or Daisy) and to have been at least partially responsible for the young woman's exploitation, abandonment and social ruin, effectively leading to her death.

As the evening progresses, will any of the family accept their part in Eva's downfall?
