New job for council boss
The council boss made redundant when the West’s biggest local authority became the first in the country to do without a chief executive has secured another job, just months after receiving a six-figure payout.
Andrew Kerr, 53, lost his £186,000-a-year role at the head of Wiltshire Council back in October when the Tory leadership decided to make the post redundant and run the huge unitary authority themselves with a team of three corporate directors.
Mr Kerr, who also had thousands in living expenses paid for after he moved to the Trowbridge headquarters just two years ago, was handed a £144,000 redundancy pay out. Early speculation had linked him to the
role as chief executive of Bath and North East Somerset Council, but now Mr Kerr has been appointed as chief operating officer of Cardiff City Council, pulling in a £131,000 salary.
