New chair of World Heritage Site Steering Group announced
The new chair of the City of Bath World Heritage Site Steering Group has been announced as Peter Metcalfe.
Retired designer Peter is widely known in the city for his 15 year service as Ward Councillor for Widcombe and as former Mayor. Peter has not been aligned to any Political Party for some time, and begins this 3 year role immediately.
Peter said, "I am very excited about this opportunity. I firmly believe the joint accolade of World Heritage and our remarkable historic environment provides a framework to maximise the benefits for local communities and create economic growth."
The Steering Group oversees the management of the Bath site, which is one of the few entire cities inscribed anywhere in the world. The group comprises of representatives of local and national bodies involved in heritage management. Secretariat for the Steering Group is provided by Bath & North East Somerset Council.
