New ambulance boss appointed
The Great Western Ambulance Service has appointed a stand-in boss to fill in for its departing chief executive.
The NHS trust, whose staff are balloting for industrial action over shift changes, will be led by Martin Flaherty, currently number 2 at the London Ambulance Service, from February.
-
He will become interim chief executive as current postholder David Whiting moves to a new job as head of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

“So, a temporary boss...
He'll leave soon, and someone new will come in...
Tim Lynch resigned in Spetember 2008, Anthony Marsh went back to WMAS in 2009, Whiting is leaving in 2011 and when this new guy is replaced, that will make 5 chief execs in 3 years......
No wonder GWAS is flapping around like a headless chicken whilst paying millions to Process Evolution (http://www.processevolution.co.uk/home) to 'streamline' and 'make efficient' the service whilst running roughshod over their employees private lives and quality time....”
