Engineers had to be called in after drivers became stranded in a city centre car park.

New parking ticket machines at the Podium shopping centre car park malfunctioned on Tuesday just hours after being installed.

Sam Shore, director at Savills, the agents responsible for running the car park on behalf of owner O&H Q4, said the machines had suffered teething troubles.

He said yesterday: "We can confirm that following installing a new payment system in the car park, the new machines had a software glitch affecting their performance. "Engineers have worked through the night to rectify this matter, and we expect the cash pay machines to be fully functional today."
