Memorial masons marks 75th anniversary
A family firm has celebrated 75 years of making headstones and work tops.
G Williams and Sons stonemasons, in Windsor Bridge Road, marked the anniversary with a party for staff past and present.
The company was started in 1938 by George Williams and his son Reg. George had become a mason in 1897 and served in the First World War before starting in masonry in Bath in 1920.
The firm stayed in the Williams family for three generations until grandson Roger Williams sold it to Alwyn Leek of Bristol and West Memorials in 2008. Mr Williams started at the family firm at the age of 16 and remembers the days when tools had to be fire-sharpened.

G Williams and Sons stonemasons was previously based in the Railway Arches in Claverton Street in Bath, but the company moved to its current premises in 1994.
Mr Leek said: "I was born in Bath, grew up in Saltford and as a third generation stonemason with my business in Bristol, I am proud to continue and grow my old friend Roger Williams' business in Bath for many years to come."
