Some businesses travelled as far as Bristol and Weymouth to trade at the event.

Christine Knight, owner of Bristol based business American Kitchen said: "I've been really impressed; this is the first time we've done this show. The reaction we have had bringing American food over has been amazing and it could have gone one or two ways."

Other events throughout the day included a chilli eating competition courtesy of The Wiltshire Chilli Farm, the local gospel choir performing, a jazz band and a bouncy castle.

"This year has gone really well, the money situation is tighter but the feedback you get from people is really positive and that's when you know this is really worth doing," Ms Wiltshire added.

The Melksham Food and Drink Festival 2012 is sponsored by Sainsbury's, the West Country Educational Agency, Melksham Town Council and Leekes.
