Steve Meehan is lining up more big-name signings for Bath Rugby, declaring: "We're not finished yet."

Further international signings are on the cards with Bath receiving approaches from top-flight players as recently as this week.

The head coach believes Bath's reputation among players at rival clubs is rising fast – and says his own players are helping to grease the wheels of the transfer market.

"Is it a coincidence that phone calls come in during international periods when players are away and chat before games and after games?" he said yesterday.

"The fact we are getting these calls is a great reflection on the squad and a terrific reflection on the club and where it's going.

"Even as late as this morning I had a phone call about a quality player and the possibility of him coming to Bath.

"The name was a bit of a surprise to me.

"They approached us and it's not the first time it's happened this season.

"As a squad we talked a lot at the beginning of the season about the values the players put in place, and now that word has gone out into the wider players' community.

"We're not finished, but I'd prefer not to comment on signings that haven't been concluded."

Sources close to the Leicester Tigers have suggested to the Chronicle this week that midfielder Sam Vesty, who was capped by England over the summer, is on Bath's radar.

Like new Bath signing Lewis Moody, 28-year-old Vesty will be out of contract at Welford Road at the end of the season

Meehan makes no secret of his admiration for the Leicester-born midfielder but insists talk of him moving to The Rec remains rumour.

"Vesty's performance last year for Leicester made the difference for them," said the Bath boss. "They were struggling a little bit before Christmas but when he came in and took over the reins he played very nicely and got them a Premiership win and a Heineken Cup final.

"The fact of the matter is – again, it's all speculation and rumour – I haven't spoken to Sam."
