AVONVALE The under-12s continued to show maturity and balance beyond their years when they ran in 14 tries in two games last weekend.

The 8-0 win over Calne and 6-0 defeat of Colerne featured more of the flowing back play and powerful forward adventure that has resulted in so many successes this season.

Calne found it difficult to get hands on the ball during an onslaught of attacking play in the first game. Tries from Mike, Luke, Matteo and Tom ensured the forwards were well represented on the scoresheet, while two apiece for Joe and Finn completed the scoring.

Colerne showed wonderful defensive qualities but could not prevent tries for Tom (2), Ed (2), Finn and Mike.

Much praised has been heaped upon the attacking flair of the Avonvale team but the minimal number of tries scored against the team reflects their defensive strength.
