Sorry Flats, Perenise is my prop idol

Victory at the weekend has put us in the driving seat for qualification to the semi-finals of the LV= Cup, with just one point needed against Exeter to secure a home tie.

An undoubtedly impressive second-half performance from the boys was topped off by the finest try from a prop I think I have ever seen.

Although Flats might argue that his run in from 0.3 metres against Montpellier may be worthy of that accolade, Anthony Perenise took his try in fine fashion.

After a dummy and turn of pace to break the line, he threw in an outrageous side step. Realising it hadn't fooled the defenders, he decided to run over the top of them instead. A great effort.

Although we go into this weekend's game in the driving seat as far as qualification goes, we are also aware that victory is hugely important as far as building our momentum is concerned.

Winning three games on the trot would give us that roll when we go back to the Aviva Premiership against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday week.

With a league return to Sandy Park also on the horizon, Sunday's fixture will be sure to let us know what we can expect at a ground that is traditionally tough to come away from with points.

Of course this weekend also will see the start of a particularly intriguing Six Nations tournament. This year it seems a hard one to call.

All eyes are on the new-look England team to see what they will bring to the table but, with the Scotland team full of confidence at the minute, I get the feeling my countrymen might fancy their chances at Murrayfield.

I'm going to put my neck out and say I do too.
