It was great to get back to Aviva Premiership action with a bonus-point win last weekend and we have good momentum behind us going into Saturday's derby match against Gloucester Rugby.

The Newcastle victory took our winning run to four and it evidently builds confidence, although last weekend was perhaps a game of two halves in every sense.

With Newcastle intent on frustrating us at the breakdown, making us commit numbers and at times slowing down our ball, it was hard to build consistent pressure and turn it into points.

With respect to Newcastle, they executed that well and it was a frustratingly close first half as Jimmy Gopperth pinned us in the corner with his accurate boot.

The second half, to a large extent, was a different story. Although we didn't play our best rugby of the season we were able to deal with Newcastle more effectively and build pressure through lifting the tempo of the game. The boys on the field created some cracking tries out there.

Undoubtedly, the winning habit played a part in that second half. The boys were able to keep patient and use the confidence gained over the last four weeks to deliver a solid win.

If you are a Bath player, or indeed a Gloucester player, it is instilled in you just how much matches like Saturday's mean.

There is a huge amount of history between the two clubs. However, this season that is not the only reason why this is such a massive fixture.

Sitting eighth and ninth in the table, just four points apart, the winners of this weekend's game will be right back in the mix of the teams fighting for a play-off spot.
