Former police inspector and partner found shot dead at house in Devizes
Retired police inspector Bill Dowling has been named as the man who was found dead with his girlfriend at a house in Devizes.
The discovery of the two bodies at the house on Moonrakers Estate, was made by neighbours shortly before 11am yesterday.
Mr Dowling had been with Wiltshire Police for 30 years but left the force five years ago. Mr Dowling was a former inspector at Devizes, Marlborough and Trowbridge.
His partner has been named locally as Vicky.

Wiltshire Police said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Cordons have been placed around the scene which may cause some disruption in the area as officers continue to conduct their enquiries.
Chief Inspector Mark Sellers said: "News of these tragic deaths will have been a shock to the community and our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two people involved.
"I would like to reiterate that this is an isolated incident and reassure members of the community that Devizes is a safe place.
" I would like to thank residents for their understanding as there will be an increased police presence on the estate as officers continue to conduct vital enquiries. If anyone has any concerns they should contact the local policing team via 101."
