Man killed in train tragedy in Bath

A man has died after being struck by a train in Bath.

Police were called to a stretch of line near Oldfield Park station yesterday evening.

The incident happened at 6pm, and involved a man who is believed to be in his 30s and from Bath.

His death is being treated as non-suspicious, and it is understood there would have been nothing the driver could have done to prevent it.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “Officers are currently working to confirm the identity of the man and inform his family.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Trains were delayed while the body was removed and the line reopened at 7.18pm.
