A man armed with a hammer carried out a robbery at the Co-op in Combe Down on Sunday.

Police are appealing for information after the incident at the shop, in the Avenue, at around 3.15pm.

The man threatened the cashier and demanded money from the till, making off with around £180 and a white carrier bag full of shopping.

The 31-year-old man working in the shop was left shocked, but otherwise unhurt.

He has described the robber as white, aged between 20 and 25 and wearing dark clothing with a dark beanie hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bath CID on the non-emergency number 101.
