Makeshift side suffer defeat
City of Bath Ladies A team made up of members of all of three City of Bath's ladies sides took to the field for the 1sts' game against East Glos and were duly beaten by their hosts.
City were slow to settle and conceded two early goals but fought back and the game flowed from end to end.
After a talk from the captain at half-time, City re-grouped and came out fighting and at the start of the second period had East Glos on the run. But they missed an open goal and were unable to convert any of their penalty corners to get back into the game.
With two of their three defenders injured as the match drew to a close, keeper and player of the match Claire Tregunna managed to keep City in it until East Glos scored twice more through well-worked efforts in open play.
And some good defending from Annette Pettit, Sally Curnow and Sarah Greenway helped prevent a heavier defeat.
