Luke joins the herd for animal charity
It's probably not the best timing to be running through streets dressed as a pig, but for one Bath man it is all in aid of charity.
Luke Holdsworth, 27, will be pounding through the city centre in a pig costume, for the World Society for the Protection of Animals' City Stampede.
He is running on behalf of Pom Design Ltd, where he works as a web designer, and is hoping to help the charity end farm animal suffering.
Luke, a long-term vegetarian, said he had elected a pig costume specifically, as factory- farmed pigs suffered from a variety of problems associated with cramped conditions.
He said: "I believe animal welfare is important.
"Farm animals deserve to be able to live more naturally, rather than being stuck in cramped factory conditions.
"I hope to raise lots of money to help end farm animal suffering."
The run will take place on Sunday, May 10, starting in Royal Crescent, and will take in the Circus and Royal Victoria Park.
Participants can chose to run a two-, five- or 10-mile course, and must wear an animal costume.
WSPA regional director John Gray said: "The money Luke raises will go to helping farm animals across the globe.
"The City Stampede is a brand new initiative for the World Society for Protection of Animals and it's aimed at anyone.
"There is no age limit or fitness level as people can pick the distance they want to run."
After the run there will be a barn dance and refreshments.
