Bath police want to speak to anyone who saw the woman and child's lucky escape or to staff at garages in the area who may have repaired the car.

“it is a 20mph limit that is simply not enforced - there have now been 4 accidents in 3 years on the bend - irresponsible drivers. it doesn't matter what side the children are taken out of - families have seats on both sides. Cars sticking to the 20mph limit is the only solution.”

“Don't know the facts to make a judgment on this woman's unfortunate incident, but far too many car doors are open wide on the carriageway side - sometimes with babies or children being plced in or taken out of their seats. I have had to brake hard on occasion because another vehicle is coming the other way and there is a chance of a collision. Parents should place their child seats on the passenger side as a sensible precaution against accident or injury.
Perhaps this was the the real cause of this incident, though I'm not condoning the actions of the missing driver.”

“TheOtherJudge: "Hopefully the mother was taking the child out on the pavement side for safety reasons. So why the lucky escape?"

One would imagine that the speed etc of the other car might have something to do with it.”
