People feeling inspired to get into the kitchen after the month-long Great Bath Feast can now learn from one of the area's best, thanks to the launch of a new cookery school.

Lucknam Park, already famous for its Michelin-star restaurant, and spa and equestrian facilities, now has something else to offer its guests and visitors. Next month the hotel is launching a new cookery school run by chef Hrishikesh Desai.

Mr Desai, 32, has worked at the 500-acre estate for seven years and says despite the abundance of cookery schools already in Bath, he believes the Colerne hotel can offer something new to the would-be chef.

He said: "There are quite a lot of different cookery schools in Bath and they have their own specialities but the experience I have from working in different Michelin kitchens, my education and background I think the courses we will be offering will be unique.

"Some of the courses are technical but the information is very easy to understand. I want people to leave the cookery school feeling confident that they can cook the dish at home."

The Lucknam Park Cookery School will be offering 24 one-day courses including those specifically designed for children, Michelin-star cooking at home, meat cookery, classic British puddings and seasonal courses.

Mr Desai will use his own Indian heritage for two of the courses which will focus on Indian cuisine and street food.

Lucknam Park now joins businesses such asYo Sushi!, Bertinet and Demuth's in offering customers the chance to try their hand at cooking and baking.

As part of the Great Bath Feast, Lucknam Park's executive chef Hywel Jones, along with Rachel Demuth, owner of the vegetarian restaurant and cookery school, took part in the Feast's Chefs' Theatre at the Octagon at the weekend where chefs from across the city demonstrated seasonal dishes and cooking techniques.

The Lucknam Park Cookery School opens its doors on November 19. For more information visit, www.lucknampark.co.uk.
