Losing a bequest
I would like to congratulate Brian Cook for his recent letter on The Rec. It states most succinctly the opinion of the 76,000 silent majority of Bathonians, whose bequest is being handed over piecemeal to commercial interests by their council representatives, most surprisingly by those in BA1, without the electorate's consent. Perhaps the mayor will exercise some control and stop this travesty?

“What is about mistaking silence (or being uninformed) for a valued opinion that you don't understand?”

“76,000 people against Bath Rugby staying at the Rec?
Really?
And your proof is what?
No, didn't think you had any.
Whereas whenever people have been asked they have voted overwhelmingly in favour.
But let's not let facts get in the way, right?”

“Perhaps those engaged in this process, as council representatives consistently do in others, have risk-assessed the possible costs of litigation / legal proceedings as entirely acceptable and manageable - and 76,000 Bathonians' silence as evidence of uninterested apathy, erroneously.”
