NETBALL TeamBath produced a fast-flowing, confident performance as they eased to a 56-40 victory over Loughborough Lightning in front of an excellent crowd at the University of Bath Sports Training Village on Saturday.

"We won all four quarters and I've been wanting to do that for a long time," said impressed coach Jess Garland.

"The intensity for both mind and body in the way we played was enormous but the players know they need to be able to sustain that level."

It took just nine minutes for the hosts to get into double figures and they also produced the fastest goal of the match during a dominant opening quarter, Jo Binns' centre-pass being tipped on by wing-attack Sasha Corbin for shooter Rosie Allison to score in less than two seconds.

They stretched their 14-10 advantage into a 32-21 lead at half-time, helped by timely interceptions from Serena Guthrie at wing-defence, Stacey Francis at goal defence and Eboni Beckford-Chambers at goal-keeper.

Garland shuffled her pack in the second half, moving players to different positions, but TeamBath maintained their impressive form and closed the match out at 56-40.

TeamBath now have a run of three home matches coming up, starting at 7.30pm on Friday, March 19 against Team Northumbria.

Hertfordshire Mavericks visit the following Monday for a televised game, again at 7.30pm, before Surrey Storm come to town on Sunday, March 28 at 4.30pm.

The games are part of TeamBath's Multiple March Magic offer, with discounts available for fans who buy tickets for more than one of the matches. Visit www.teambath.com for more information.

Allison features in the England squad that will contest the Netball Europe Under-19 Championships in Loughborough this weekend. Garland is the team's assistant coach.

Wellsway School student Sarah Riddoch and TeamBath club-mate Yasmin Parsons feature in the England under-17 team, of which Binns is an assistant coach, playing in Belfast.
