Let's give our custom to the family butcher again
The current escalating furore relating to horse meat in everyday food products must now be seen as a serious wake-up call to the general public in making a mass return to patronising local butchers and avoiding major supermarket chains.
Personally, I have no problem with horse meat, having eaten it (along with whale meat) during the late 1940s and then in Belgium when touring with my band in the 1970s.
What I do object to are the lies and skullduggery of the catering companies and supermarket chains involved and crass stupidity of the Food Standards Agency and idiot politicians.
In addition, I am appalled that toxic chemicals might have entered the food chain in pursuit of profit.

Once again, accountants hold us to ransom.
Well, enough is enough and now the supermarkets need a serious lesson, so let's turn our backs on them and return to good old fashioned local butchers like those in Moorland Road and Larkhall Square where you can be sure that all their meat and by-products are second-to-none.
When it comes to shopping sensibly and putting good foot on the table, it's horses for courses.
