CYCLING Leon Boulton was Bath Cycling Club's fastest rider in the Somerset Road Club 10-mile time trial.

Boulton finished fifth in a new personal best time of 23mins 9secs. Bath super veteran Tom Ryan scooped the fastest veteran's prize with his time of 25:03, while team-mate Pete Abbott completed the course in 29:43.

Chippenham and District Wheelers hosted their annual 29-mile Hilly Time Trial on the demanding Lyneham-Wootton Bassett circuit on Sunday.

Bath's fastest man was fourth-placed Rob Pears, who, despite still recovering from sinus infections, clocked a respectable veterans' time of 1:09:12. Dave Summers deviated off course to finish in 1:31:02. Tom Ryan came home in 1:22:23 and Pete Wilson in 1:32:42.

The prestigious Rudy Project Hard Riders Hilly Time Trial will be hosted by Bath on Sunday, March 28.

Riders will set out on the Frome bypass before heading towards Mere, then a steep climb before descending to the Deverills. The sting in the tail is a further climb to finish just short of Maiden Bradley.
