BATH ARSENAL A goal in each half and an excellent defensive display gave Larkhall Athletic a 2-0 victory over Bath Arsenal in the Mid-Wilts Youth League Under-14s Blue Division.

There were few chances in the first half but the deadlock was broken just before the break when Alfie latched on to a long ball and finished with a superb cross-shot.

Arsenal applied plenty of pressure in the second half but tenacious defending and several good saves from keeper Dom kept them at bay.

Central defender Hamish headed in Alex's corner for Larkhall's second goal with ten minutes left and, soon afterwards, produced a last- ditch tackle to deny Opi.

Arsenal under-13s continued their rich vein of form as they defeated a strong Banwell outfit 2-1 after extra-time in the Somerset Cup.

With man of the match Alex pulling the strings in midfield, the defence of Louis, Fin, Jacob and Joe standing firm in front of keeper Jacob and Sam and Ricmarc delivering excellent crosses from the flanks, Arsenal pressed for an early goal.

They got it when Ricmarc found Harry, who in turn flicked on for Sam to slot home at the far post.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Arsenal dominating possession without taking their chances and Dan not letting the Banwell defence settle on the ball.

Banwell, unbeaten for two years, were not going to lie down easily and equalised after a punt forward caused confusion in the Arsenal defence.

Their keeper pulled off a superb penalty save with ten minutes to go but was beaten by Piran in the first period of extra-time following good work from Alex and Josh.

The under-12s emerged from a tough encounter against Peasedown Albion with a 2-1 victory.

Charlie W-R, Aden, Joe M and Joe B tested a robust Peasedown defence before a mix-up at the other end of the field led to the game's opening goal.

Joe P and Charlie B had further chances before Finn C equalised for Arsenal.

With the Peasedown keeper having an excellent game, it looked as though the game was heading for a draw before Louis B set up Frank W for the winner.
