KINGSWOOD A group of 44 pupils and six staff from Kingswood School are in Kynsna, near Cape Town, South Africa, for their Sixth Form Sports Tour.

The tour, which started last Wednesday, will see the boys playing five rugby matches and the girls contesting hockey and five netball matches against a number of local schools, including York High and the Rondebosch.

In the last five years, the sports department have organised three major tours to Australia and Fiji, South America and South Africa.

Pupils have been working hard to raise their own funds – car washing, babysitting and Saturday jobs being the favourite means – to pay for their adventure.

After their 12-hour flight, they walked to the top of Table Mountain. The treat will come at the end of the tour with a visit to the Knysna Safari Park before flying back for the start of term.

Headmaster Simon Morris said: "We shall look forward to hearing all about their news on their return and wish them all a very safe and enjoyable tour.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for such a large number of our sixth formers who have been working very hard for their public examinations.

"My special thanks also go to the director of sport, Mr Tim Reeman, and the members of staff accompanying the tour. I hope they will all have a marvellous time."
